Adoption Support

How we support adoptive families

Family based care Adoption Team has changed the way it delivers adoption support. Two levels of support are available.

The service recognises that caring for adopted children can be fun as well as, at times, challenging. Each adoptive family is unique, with its own support network. However, there are also benefits in being able to share experiences with families in a similar position. With this in mind, adoptive families will have access to Level One Support.

 Level One Support

  • family fun days
  • training sessions
  • adoption related lectures
  • children’s groups
  • support groups
  • newsletters
  • other adopter suggested activities.

Level Two Support

Some adoptive families may feel they need to explore additional support options. At such times the team will explore the issues with the family and agree a plan to best meet the needs of those affected. In some cases, this may include access to more specialist help.

Invitations to events will be sent to you by email. If you would like to discuss any aspect of adoption support or request an assessment, please get in touch with the team:
