Spreading the word about fostering during Foster Care Fortnight

Could you transform a child's life?
Each year during Foster Care Fortnight, we highlight the need for more foster carers for Edinburgh children by supporting the Fostering Network’s awareness campaign. It aims to highlight the passion and dedication of foster carers, as well as the urgent need for foster carers.
This year’s campaign focuses on the way relationships transform the lives of children who are being cared for.
Our carers tell us that it takes time to build a relationship with a child in their care. However, they also tell us how rewarding it is to be able to provide a safe and loving home for a child and to see them thrive and grow.
Lucy, fostered by one of our Edinburgh carers, found the best way to tell her foster mum how much she valued their relationship was by writing her a letter describing how her foster mum had changed her life.
We are looking for more people like Lucy’s foster mum to train as carers and join our Edinburgh team.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and situations and provide full training, ongoing support and a carer’s allowance and fee to acknowledge the valuable contribution of our carers. There are also lots of ways you can foster too including permanent, temporary or short breaks fostering.
Our carers have shared their experiences of being foster carers to inspire others to foster. Our carers' voices also feature on our TV ad which they helped develop and which we are running during Foster Care Fortnight.
The foster team will be out and about spreading the word about fostering during Foster Care Fortnight with pop-up stalls at North Edinburgh Community Festival and John Lewis.
