Steps to becoming a foster carer

Looking after children is the most important job anyone can do so we take the task of assessing prospective carers seriously. There is a series of discussions and visits where you find out more about what is involved, and we find out more about you, who you live with and your home. The whole process is about finding safe, caring people who can provide a high standard of care to our children and young people. It can take up to a year to become a registered foster carer. The in depth nature of the assessment journey is designed to offer additional safeguards for you, your family and any children coming to stay. Once you become a carer with us, you will be assigned a social worker who will guide and support you every step of the way.
